Joint Annual Scientific Meeting
New Zealand Rheumatology Association
and Australian Rheumatology Association
with the Rheumatology Health Professionals Association

 Tuesday 23rd May 6 pm - Thursday 25th May 12.30 pm

The Adult Satellite, Musculoskeletal Ultrasound in the Rheumatology setting, will be at the Castaways Function and Events Centre, Waiuku, New Zealand.

We hope you can join us. A fascinating program awaits you.

This course will have something for everyone from beginners to practitioners with some experience who wish to further advance their skill. Candidates will learn how to score synovitis, tenosynovitis, enthesitis and doppler as well as recognize erosions.  Common pitfalls will be explored and the use of ultrasound in everyday practice will be discussed. This meeting will focus on the hands and feet primarily and we will look at various ultrasound approaches for common injection techniques such as Carpel Tunnel Syndrome and DeQuervains tenosynovitis.  This course aims to provide an abundance of hands on tuition.

Speakers who have committed to the project include international guest speaker Peter Balint as well as local enthusiasts Fred Joshua, Anita Lee, Helen Keen, Andrew Harrison, Simon Stebbings and Julia Martin. We have also secured interventional sonographers to assist with the programme.

The meeting will both be held at the Castaways Function and Event Centre which is 70km south of the Auckland CBD, thus providing a quick trip to Auckland airport for those departing after the meeting.

Departure for the satellite meeting will be immediately after the main meeting at SKYCITY Auckland and a coach will depart for the Satellite at 3.45 pm on Tuesday 23th May and will return to Auckland Airport around 1.30 pm Thursday 25th May.

The Welcome Reception will be held in a Private Area from 6.00 pm, canapés and drinks will be served until 8.30 pm.

Some Housekeeping:

The meeting program and content will be compliant with the ATO. This meeting will be self-funded. This is a different venue to the Paediatric Satellite which will remain in Auckland at The Heritage Hotel, so it is not possible to do both. If you want to travel to and from Castaways at different times you will need to book your own transport e.g. hire your own car. It is about a 1 hour drive.

Looking forward to seeing you all in Auckland to pick up the transfer to Castaways.

The registration fee will be NZ $350 per person (GST Inclusive). There will be a cap of numbers of 50 attendees.  Registration will be via the main meeting registration page.

Transfer – the transfer will depart from SKYCITY Auckland at 3.45 pm.  Further information will be sent closer to the time.

For further information or if you wish to make your own way to Castaways via your own transportation, please contact the Meeting Manager at or +61 8 8177 2215.
