How do I get from the airport to the Conference?

When you arrive from Melbourne Airport (also known as Tullamarine Airport), you have three options. You can catch a taxi from outside your terminal or request an Uber by following the signs outside your terminal to the pick up zones. You can also get the Skybus, which has a service called the Southbank Docklands Express that stops at the Clarendon Street entrance of MCEC. A taxi rank is located as you walk out of the terminal.  A taxi fare will cost you approximately $60-80 and takes anywhere from 30-45 minutes depending on the time of day.

Where is the Preceptorship being held on Saturday?
The Preceptorship will be held on Level 2, Room 204 from 10.00 am - 3.00 pm.  It is open only to current trainees and those within 2 years of graduation i.e. a 5 year span. Other NZRA + ARA members are not eligible to attend.  N.B. A letter of support from Departmental Head is required. Please email to Meeting Manager at lara@themeetingpeople.com.au 

Where is the RHPA Pre-Conference Workshop (Joining the dots: evidence and health professional practice) being held on Saturday?
The RHPA Pre-Conference Workshop is being held on on Level 2, Room 208 from 10.00 am - 3.00 pm.  This workshop will include recent evidence for best practice care in dietary modification, scleroderma and hypermobility, including a practical session on screening and physical assessment of hypermobility.   The cost is free for RHPA Members and $50 for non members.

If I already have a name badge from the Preceptorship or RHPA Pre-Conference Workshop do I need to re register again for the main ARA ASM?
No, you will receive all of your conference details when you collect your badge. 

Is there car parking near the MCEC?
Yes, there are several options for parking.  Wilson Parking Opening hours: 24/7 hours Enter/Exit: Normanby Road (Clearance Height: 2.2 metres). Please note that the car park can reach capacity early in the day during busy events.

Where are the sessions being held in the MCEC?
The main conference session will be held in Plenary Room 1 on the Ground Floor and all other sessions, the Registration Desk and the Exhibition will be located on Level 2.  Please take the escalators or lifts to Level 2. You’ll find Plenary within MCEC’s Convention Centre. Enter via Convention Centre Place, next to DFO and Pan Pacific Hotel or via the link to Exhibition Centre Door 6.

Where is the ARA Registration Desk at the MCEC?
The Registration Desk will be located on Level 2 in the Foyer outside of the Melbourne Rooms and will open at the following times during the meeting:

Saturday 5th May 2018  - 0930 - 1900
Sunday 6th May 2018  -  0700 - 1830
Monday 7th May 2018  -  0700 - 1730
Tuesday 8th May 2018  -  0700 - 1530

Where is the ARA Speaker Preparation Room at the MCEC?
The Speaker Preparation Room is located on Level 2 in Room 201 of the MCEC near to the registration desk. All speakers are required to preload their presentations in advance of the session. Please contact Tim Joy, the AV Director on +61 417 941 431 if you have any queries.

Where is the Parent Room at the MCEC?
Parent Rooms offer a comfortable and private space for parents and children. Located in both the Convention and Exhibition Centres, these feature everything you need to change or feed in privacy and comfort.

What will the weather be like?
Melbourne’s climate is characterised by low humidity and low rainfall, with four distinct seasons to enjoy - May is autumn time and average daily temperature is 21C/69F, and slightly cooler in the evenings..  Click here for up to date weather reports.

What is the dress code for the conference?
For all conference sessions, the Welcome Reception and the Conference Dinner the dress is smart casual.

Will there be WIFI?
Yes, Delegates have access to complimentary WIFI for the duration of the conference.  

Will I get a Program Book?
The Conference Program will not be printed this year and you will also receive a copy of the IMJ Supplement with the Contributed Abstracts.  They can both also be downloaded from the ARA 2018 website - https://www.araconference.com/presentations/ 

Will I get a Name Badge?
Each delegate will also receive a name badge upon arrival.  The name badge is your official pass and must be worn to entry all sessions and to social functions.

Will I get a Satchel?
Please note that in an effort to be more sustainable the ARA have gone satchel free for this meeting.  Please bring your own bag if you require one.   Please note that the funds usually spent on satchels has instead been donated directly to the ARA Research Trust. You will be handed a Meeting Program Booklet and a copy of the IMJ Supplement with your namebadge upon arrival.

Where is Lunch?
Lunches and tea breaks are in with the Industry Exhibition in the Melbourne Rooms . There are also special lunch symposiums on Sunday (Abbvie), Monday (Pfizer) and Tuesday (Novartis), all of which will be held in Room 210/211 on Level 2.

What if I have a special dietary requirement?
All catering venues have been advised of any special diet preferences you have indicated on your registration form. Please identify yourself to the catering or registration desk staff to locate your meal.

Mobile Phones
As a courtesy to other delegates, please ensure that all mobile phones are turned to off or on silent mode during all presentations and social functions.

Photographs, Videos, Recording of Sessions
Delegates are not permitted to use any type of camera or recording device at any of the sessions unless written permission has been obtained from the relevant speaker.

Entry to Conference Sessions
It is suggested that delegates arrive at preferred sessions promptly to ensure a seat.  If sessions become full then delegates may not be allowed entry to them.
