Membership Categories

ARA/NZRA have the following categories for membership.

Full Members, being persons who are:

  • medical practitioners with appropriate training in rheumatology as defined by AHPRA as a rheumatology specialist

  • senior scientists with a major commitment to research in the field of rheumatic diseases, who are invited by the Board to become Full Members;

Associate members, whose work as medical practitioners is related to rheumatic diseases such as Rheumatology Advanced Trainees.

Non-Medical Members, non-medical practitioners, whose work is associated with the sciences relating to rheumatic diseases such as rheumatology nurses, physiotherapists, podiatrists etc.

All fees are in Australian Dollars and are inclusive of GST.

 

REGISTRATION INCLUSIONS

All full registrations will be entitled to:

  • entry to all scientific sessions and industry symposia

  • programmed morning and afternoon teas and lunches from Saturday to Tuesday

  • electronic conference programme and meeting abstracts via the ASM App

  • A complimentary professional headshot will be taken at the time of the ASM*

  • A ticket to the Welcome Reception and Industry Exhibition Opening.

AMISIG Ultrasound Satellite Workshop

Friday 5th May 2022
8.30 am - 5.15 pm

This Ultrasound Workshop is for ARA members and is designed as a refresher course. The workshop will include case-based scenario scanning, talks on peripheral nerves/entrapment and vasculitis/temporal arteritis and tips on scanning. Mr Stephen Bird, a renowned sonographer and medical ultrasound educator with 25 years of clinical experience will be demonstrating and presenting. Prof Helen Keen and A/Prof Andrew Taylor will present their work on vasculitis and the Fast Track clinic that they have set up in WA using US in temporal arteritis and large vessel vasculitis diagnosis.

ADVANCED TRAINEE PRECEPTORSHIP DAY – SATURDAY 6th MAY 2023

Included in the registration fee for NZRA + ARA Associate Members.  This is open to current trainees and those within 2 years of graduation i.e. a 5 year span. Other NZRA + ARA members are not eligible to attend.

RHPSIG Dinner

Date:  Sunday 7th May 2023

Time: 7.30 pm onwards
Ticket cost: $70 per ticket - food only

Join your allied health colleagues for a dinner on Sunday night.  Ticket cost is $70 per person and this covers your meal. Purchase your own drinks on the night.


ARA Fun Run/Walk

Date:  Monday 8th May 2023
Starting location – TBC
Time: 6.30 am – 7.30 am

Ticket cost is a donation to a local charity: $20 per ticket


Annual Conference Dinner

Date:  Monday 8th May 2023
Venue: Princes Wharf, Hobart

Cost: $150 per ticket (includes dinner and drinks)

Join us for the Annual ARA Conference Dinner being held at Princes Wharf, a 5 minute walk from the ASM venue.

NB This function is not included in the full registration and is an additional cost for all member and non-member delegates.  This function has limited industry attendance at Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze levels only.


Parental Support for the ARA ASM 2023

The ARA will offer parental grants for ARA members with children attending the ASM who require support to allow them to attend. This will be provided in replace of onsite childcare and would be most suitable for members with babies and small children who could otherwise not attend without the support of an additional caregiver being present at the conference. 

The parental grant is up to a maximum of $1500 to cover travel expenses and accommodation (no other expenses will be covered) for a caregiver and children. As there is an allocated grant pool, applications will be assessed and provisionally accepted as they are received.

MYCPD CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

MyCPD is the new continuing Professional Development (CPD) Program for the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP). The RACP MyCPD program is founded on participants identifying personal professional development needs, planning activities to meet those needs and subsequent reflection on the activities undertaken as part of an ongoing commitment to lifelong learning.

The guidelines for continuing Professional Development (CPD) Providers and MyCPD are available on the college website. The meeting organizers have consulted the College and believe that the program for the Annual Scientific Meeting meets the criteria set out in the college guidelines for MyCPD.

Fellows may contact the College for advice regarding the appropriate level of points to claim if they require assistance. To claim MyCPD points, fellows should provide evidence of attendance – an attendance certificate, program or receipt of payment. 

A Certificate of Attendance will be emailed to delegates post event.


CANCELLATIONS
Cancellations must be advised in writing to the Conference Secretariat by 1 May 2023. There is an $150 cancellation fee. Refunds will only be issued in exceptional circumstances after this date, but substitute delegates are acceptable. Cancellations must be made in writing and sent to our ASM Meeting Manager,  lara@themeetingpeople.com.au. Verbal changes or cancellations cannot be accepted. 

If, on medical grounds, you are unable to attend the ASM, you must notify us in writing by email lara@themeetingpeople.com.au. Your registration will be changed to post-event attendance via recordings, and refund will be provided for the registration fee difference; however, you may be asked to provide additional details.

PAYMENT OF FEES
Payment can be made by credit card (via secure online registration only with MasterCard or Visa only).  Please contact the Secretariat electronic banking transfer details.  All registrations need to be submitted via the online registration and they will be acknowledged by return email. If you do not receive a written acknowledgement upon the completion of your online registration, please contact the Secretariat to ensure that your details have been received. Payments will be listed on your credit card statement with Australian Rheumatology Association - SYD, AU.

FEDERAL GOODS & SERVICES TAX (GST)
Australia has a Federal Goods and Services Tax (GST) of 10%. Overseas delegates are not exempt from paying this tax. All fees and costs quoted in the brochure are GST inclusive. The Australian Rheumatology Association is registered for GST - the ABN is 16 002 876 520. Upon payment online you will receive a tax invoice.

LIABILITY
In case of industrial disruption or other external events causing disruption to the meeting, the Local Organising Committee, the ARA and the Meeting Managers of the Annual Scientific Meeting accepts no responsibility for loss of monies incurred by delegates.

PRIVACY
Personal information, as defined under the national privacy legislation, The Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2001, will be treated in accordance with the National Privacy Principles and only shared with related or third parties in accordance with those principles.
