The Organising Committee of the 2018 Australian Rheumatology Association Annual Scientific Meeting thanks you for joining us in Melbourne for this year’s Meeting. The meeting is also being held in conjunction with the Australian Rheumatology Health Professionals’ Association and will include Paediatric Rheumatology, as well as co-badged sessions with the Australian and New Zealand Bone and Mineral Society and the Australian Orthopaedic Association.
The meeting will feature some of the world’s most dynamic speakers in Rheumatology. We aim to present cutting-edge research, provide clinical updates and to address some of the ‘big picture’ issues in adult and paediatric Rheumatology. Meeting themes will include spondyloarthritis, JAK-STAT biology and blockade, back pain, paediatric pain, new developments in osteoarthritis, muscle in ageing and metabolism, and health care stewardship.
I would like to draw your attention to the latter session on Monday afternoon, which will lead directly in to our AGM. Clinical grand rounds is always a highlight and, given the availability of flights out of Melbourne, this year we decided to save it until the last.
We welcome our international guests including Désirée van der Heijde (Netherlands), Martin Englund (Sweden), Peter Croft (UK), Roy Fleischmann (USA), David Sherry (USA), Massimo Gadina (USA), Dan Cua (USA), Stuart Warden (USA) and Robert Landewé (Netherlands). We will also feature a wide range of local experts.
We hope you enjoy a taste of what this vibrant city offers – from shopping in laneways, to great food and wine, the arts, and the iconic MCG - and have a wonderful ARA meeting in Melbourne.
